Elon Musk’s xAI set to launch to select group tomorrow
Tech billionaire Elon Musk said his artificial intelligence-focused project xAI will be released to a select group tomorrow, Nov. 4.
XAI is an artificial intelligence company with the goal of understanding “the true nature of the universe.” The company was launched in July, and its 12 team members have strong backgrounds from major technological companies like Deep Mind, OpenAI, Google, Tesla, etc.
The website shows that Musk’s owned companies, including social media platform X and electric vehicle maker Tesla, will work with xAI. However, these companies remain separate.
“In some important respects, it is the best that currently exists,” Musk said on Nov. 3.
Over the past year, several AI-focused companies have emerged following the success of OpenAI’s ChatGPT. However, Musk has emerged as one of the strongest critics of the emerging industry, signing a letter urging temporary restraints on AI training.
Additionally, the Tesla CEO also restated that warning at a recent AI safety summit hosted by the UK government. According to him, the government has a role to play in regulating AI development to ensure safety.
AI integration for social media platform X
Aside from his AI company’s new strides, the tech billionaire is also integrating an artificial intelligence-powered feature called “See Similar post” into his social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The new feature will allow users of the microblogging platform to see other posts similar to their search results and those they view.
Meanwhile, some users of the social media site have expressed concerns that the update could result in the platform becoming an “echo chamber.”
Since Musk acquired the social media platform last year, he has introduced some interesting changes to the site, which include the introduction of a subscription model and also its rebranding into X.
