Bosch showcases dePIN sensor kit using AI agents to reward users for local environmental data streams

Peaq, a multi-chain L1 for real-world applications, Bosch, the world’s largest sensor manufacturer, and Fetch.ai have collaborated to create the Bosch XDK110 Rapid Prototyping Kit. This device integrates blockchain and AI technology, enabling users to become active data providers and earn cryptocurrency rewards. The group believes this collaboration marks a significant step towards an ‘open smart city paradigm,’ where data-based goods and services are exchanged without centralized intermediaries.

The Bosch XDK110 is a compact all-in-one sensor kit capable of measuring various environmental factors such as temperature and light pollution. It features a self-sovereign peaq ID, connecting it with multiple decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePINs) on peaq. The device also incorporates a Fetch.ai AI agent, which autonomously selects its owner’s most rewarding DePIN connection.

This technology has undergone successful proof-of-concept trials, demonstrating its potential as a versatile DePIN hardware hub similar to the IoTeX Pebble. Showcased at a hackathon hosted by the University of Applied Sciences in Saarbrücken, the device’s effectiveness in collecting and monetizing data via the peaq network was highlighted.

DePINs represent a new approach to managing physical infrastructure, such as solar panels and electric vehicle chargers, using blockchain tokens to crowd-source devices and services. This model empowers communities to own and maintain their infrastructure, with real-world data collection playing a crucial role. The collaboration between peaq, Bosch, and Fetch.ai transforms the Bosch XDK device into an efficient sensor array capable of collecting diverse data types and facilitating transactions on the peaq network.

Peter Busch from Bosch commented on the potential of DePINs to revolutionize connected infrastructure management and went on to say,

“The Bosch XDK device is where DePINs meet AI and IoT excellence to produce a one-of-a-kind versatile device capable of taking on a whole variety of roles.”

Maria Minaricova of Fetch.ai emphasized the versatility of Fetch.ai Agents, enhancing user experiences through natural language interactions on the DeltaV platform. Leonard Dorlöchter from peaq envisioned the Internet of Things evolving into an Economy of Things, where devices gain economic agency, optimizing rewards for their owners across multiple DePINs.

This collaboration builds on joint efforts, including the Bosch-led Gaia-X moveID project, showcasing peer-to-peer electric vehicle charging and parking solutions utilizing peaq and Fetch AI Agents. This partnership signifies a further step in realizing smart mobility, energy, and connectivity using decentralized tooling.
